April 18th: Fed missionaries breakfast. We cleaned & I ran errands. We taught Sister Cockram, Debbie (members) and Tammy (nonmember) & a friend the 1st discussion & it went really well! They said that their preacher told them that they wouldn't know family members in heaven. Elder Sadler said, "does that make sense to you?" & they said no!
We took Bettony Bennett a birthday candy bar & had a nice visit with her. We also visited with Lee Grayson & went by to see Rebecca Guyton but she wasn't home. We went by & watered Sister Kirkland's flowers.
April 19th: we had a district meeting in Stockbridge. We inspected the 2 Stockbridge apartments & the Elder's apartment here in Jackson.
April 20th: Today we inspected apartments in Snellville, Conyers & Covington.
April 21st: Inspected apartments at Twin Oaks 3, 2 & 1 and Brockett 2 & 1. We met Jeena & Drew Wilder (from the Eufaula ward) and children for lunch at O'Charley's. It was great to get to visit with them.
Went to the doctor with a kidney infection & got antibiotics.
Had the Book of Mormon class tonight. Only Ann Owens showed up but she seems to really enjoy the class.
April 22nd: Jonesboro apartment inspections. Barry went to a service project with the Elders at a Boy Scout camp near Covington. One group built a bridge & another group moved a bridge!
April 23rd: Four more apartment inspections -- 22 in all! Barry worked on all the paperwork for apartment inspections. I cooked a meatloaf for Sunday. We found out tonight that Elder Walker is being transferred. I will really miss him.
April 24th: Went to church & found out that Sister Kirkland got home last night! We took Sister Katie Hall to church. She is in a wheel chair & can't drive & really appreciates a ride to church. We fed the missionaries & Braydon lunch (he is staying here with his Grandmother for a few weeks). Later we visited with the Huddleston's & the Knights.
Closing with a great quote from Dallin H. Oaks: So it is that those who hold the Aaronic priesthood open the door for all church members who worthily partake of the sacrament to enjoy the companionship of the Spirit of the Lord and the ministering of angels.

April 11th-17th
April 11th: Fed missionaries breakfast. Elder Sadler went bowling with the Elders & had a lot of fun! I went to Daucet Trails with Sister Creech & Sister Archer. They loved it, especially feeding the turtles & fish!
April 12th: Went to the doctor for a follow up visit concerning the nodule. They told me to have it checked every six months.
We visited with Ann Owens & answered questions. We sure hope that she will get baptized before we leave! The Elders came by & we visited with them for a little while.
April 13th: we had an appointment to teach Tammy but she was called in to work last night so she was sleeping. We visited Sister Hosea & her roommate Geraldine & with Sister Cox in the nursing home. We always enjoy visiting with them & take them a bag of Werthers candy.
We went to visit with the Dotson's & took them a book about the sacrament. We took a birthday candy bar to Melanie Jones--she wants her name removed😢
April 14th: we had a district meeting & interviews with President & Sister Foote. We are always impressed at the presentations that the district & zone leaders give! And it is always great to talk to President & Sister Foote. They are the best! Delivered food to the Cockram's from the Wicklund's & went to the Book of Mormon class. Our attendance has really slipped unfortunately.
April 15th: the Garmin broke & let's just say it was a pretty miserable day driving around in the Atlanta traffic doing apartment inspections but we made it through it. Went to a Walmart to get another Garmin but it had the wrong plug & checked the only other one they had & it had the wrong plug too!
We did go by & had a very nice visit with Uncle Billy & Aunt Betty & on the way home we stopped at another Walmart & bought a new Garmin.
April 16th: watered Sister Kirkland's flowers & visited with Ann Owens.
April 17th: went to hospital in Atlanta & visited with Sister France (she had a heart attack). We went to a "Why I Believe" fireside & it was awesome. All of the speakers were very good. One of the speakers was Luis Gomez who played professional baseball for the Toronto bluejays.
In closing I wanted to share this quote from Elder Renlund: "The sacrament truly helps us know our Savior. It also reminds us of His innocent suffering. If life were truly fair, you & I would never be resurrected; you & I would never be able to stand clean before God. In this respect I am grateful that life is not fair. At the same time, I can emphatically state that because of the atonement of Jesus Christ, ultimately, in the eternal scheme of things, there will be no unfairness. All that is unfair about life can be made right."

I was impressed with this talk during my personal study. It was in the Dec. 2006 Ensign and was from a devotional talk given at BYU on May 10, 2005.Notes from a talk by Elder David A. Bednar called “Quick to Observe”Another seemingly simple and perhaps under appreciated gift—the capacity of being “quick to observe” (Mormon 1:2)—is vitally important for you and for me in the world in which we do now and will yet live. Thus when we are quick to observe, we promptly look or notice and obey. Both of these fundamental elements—LOOKING and OBEYING—are essential to being quick to observe. And the prophet Mormon is an impressive example of this gift in action. In this talk he quotes Stephan L. Richards: “First I mention the gift of discernment, embodying the power to discriminate…between right and wrong. I BELIEVE THAT THIS GIFT WHEN HIGHLY DEVELOPED ARISES LARGELY OUT OF AN ACUTE SENSITIVITY TO IMPRESSIONS—SPIRITUAL IMPRESSIONS, IF YOU WILL—to read under the surface, as it were, to detect hidden evil and more importantly to find the good that may be concealed.”Simply stated being quick to observe is an antecedent to and is linked with the spiritual gift of discernment. And for you and for me, discernment is a light of protection and direction in a world that grows increasingly dark. …So being quick to observe is a preparation for the gift of discernment.…Discernment is a light of protection and direction in a world that grows increasingly dark. You and I can press forward safely and successfully through the mist of darkness and have a clear sense of spiritual direction. Discernment is so much more than recognizing right from wrong. It helps us distinguish the relevant from the irrelevant, the important from the unimportant and the necessary from that which is merely nice. The gift of discernment opens to us vistas that stretch far beyond what can be seen with natural eyes or heard with natural ears. Discerning is seeing with spiritual eyes and feeling with the heart—seeing and feeling the falsehood of an idea or the goodness in another person. Discerning is hearing with spiritual ears and feeling with the heart—hearing and feeling the unspoken concern in a statement or the truthfulness of a testimony or doctrine.Observing and discerning also enables us to assist others who are seeking to obtain the path and who desire to press forward with steadfastness in Christ. Blessed with these spiritual gifts, we will not lose our way, we will not wander off, we will not be lost. And we can hope to obtain the supernal gift of discernment and it’s light of protection and direction only if we are quick to observe. As Alma taught his son Helaman, “see that ye take care of these sacred things, yea, see that ye look to God and live” (Alma 37:47).

April 4th-10th
April 4th: Melissa & the kids spent the night with us & today we went to Daucet Trails & the kids loved it! It is such a beautiful, peaceful place. Today there were a lot of people there because of Spring break. We loved seeing the different animals along the trail. The snakes were very active & Kaitlyn did not was to get too close to their enclosures! I think we all enjoyed feeding the fish & turtles the most & then we had a picnic.
It was such a fun day! After they went home we visited with Connie Tillman--a very inactive member but she expressed interest in the church & wants a Book of Mormon.
April 5th: Today we went to zone conference & Elder Ericksen & Elder Mende rode with us b/c they spent the night in Jackson with Elder Waite & Walker. We enjoyed being with them. We have really enjoyed working with all the elders & sisters & we have been impressed with the training that they give at district & zone meetings. What a wonderful way to learn the gospel & learn leadership skills! Later in the afternoon we visited the Wicklunds, went by to see Andi Kirby & also the Mullenax's but they were not there so we left a note, visited with Sister Forchilli, Kevin Sanders & the Stansells.
April 6th: today is Graham's birthday & we got to talk to him for a little while! We took the Cockram's food that the Wicklund's gave us for them. We went to the Knight's & Elder Sadler & the Elders gave Sister Knight's nephew, John Moore, a blessing. It was very spiritual & we were in tears when it was over. After that we visited with Jacquie Menard & encouraged her to come to church. Went by to visit Tara Oglesby but she wasn't home.
April 7th: Got a hair cut. Got a bunch of food from the Wicklund's & took it to the Cockram's. Barry worked on the lesson this afternoon for the class & we went to class. Only Ann Owens was there but we had a really good discussion & answered a bunch of questions for her.
April 8th: went to the doctor & had the biopsy on the nodule on my neck. Afterward we went to Walmart & got some things & a couple of plants (your Dad/Papa says it's flower therapy!)
Tonight we ate supper with the Wicklund's, Kim & the missionaries. The Wicklund's & Kim really like us but we can't seem to encourage them enough to get them to come back to church.
April 9th: today Dallas is 13--a teenager! We got to talk to him for a few minutes. We went to Thelma's & watered her flowers. Sure will be glad when she gets back! We visited Duane & took him some food & fed the cats. We joined in the mission call to start our fast. President Foote has an inspiring message for us as usual. They are so awesome!!!
April 10th: today we went to church--studied & rested--cooked supper.
Elder Richard Scott taught, "Knowledge carefully recorded is knowledge available in time of need. Spiritually sensitive information should be kept in a sacred place that communicates to the Lord how you treasure it. This practice enhances the likelihood of your receiving further light".

March 28th - April 3rd
March 28th: We fed the missionaries, Elder Waite & Elder Walker & visited with them for a little while. We went walking in the cemetery. We cleaned, rested, read & studied.
March 29th: We had a district meeting in Stockbridge & afterward took all the missionaries out to eat for lunch. I had an appointment with the nurse practitioner at the endocrinologist's office & she said one nodule was big enough (about an inch) that it needed to be biopsies so we set up the biopsy. Appointment for the 8th. On the way home we went by Walmart to pick up a few things. Later Barry went to visit Brother Swafford & gave him a blessing.
March 30th: cooked chicken salad today. Took some Democrat Deli pasta to the Wicklund's--they really liked it! We visited with Brother & Sister France. They told us that it looked like their daughter & 2 little grandsons would be moving in with them. They said that the son in law didn't want to be married any more. The 2 little grandsons were so cute! Brother France said he wanted to get them in Primary so I hope they do bring them to church.
March 31st: Barry went with Brother Price to visit Brother Morris. Then they went by Sister Oglsby's (again!) but she wasn't home. I had an appointment to get my hair cut this afternoon. After that we went by the nursing home & took Dorothy Hosea a candy bar & a little gift bag with lotion, lip gloss & Werther's candy for her birthday & I made a gift bag for her roommate too. They were both really happy to get them. Then we visited with Sister Cox (also in the nursing home) & took her some Werther's too. She is always happy to see us--she seems to be getting weaker. Then we went to the Wicklund's & delivered food to the Cockram's. Then we had the Book of Mormon class. Only Ann Owens was there--she is an investigator. We were able to answer some of her questions. After we left there we had some donuts & snacks that we took over to the Huddleston's. Busy day!
April 1st: Today I cooked some soup with canned vegetables that the Dotson's gave us that they put up from their garden last summer. It was good! We took a birthday candy bar to Fay Peder, Laurie Swafford & Sister McLaughlin. No one had contacted Sister McLaughlin in a long time. She told us that she believed in the church but she didn't practice it because she married outside of the church. She said she would like for us to teach her children before the oldest son goes to college in the fall.
April 2nd: We went to Danielle Grover's baptism this morning! This is the daughter of the man that slammed the door in our face when we first got to Jackson! We hurried home to watch both conference sessions & Barry went to the Priesthood session that night.
April 3rd: watched both sessions of General conference. Melissa & the children came to see us later that afternoon! Nathan had pushed a button on the van which left all of the lights on Sat. night so the battery was dead but Kevin jumped the van off & ran the motor for about ten minutes & it recharged the battery! I was so glad that they were able to come!
Closing with this scripture from Helaman 3:35 Nevertheless they did fast & pray oft, & did wax stronger & stronger in their humility, & firmer & firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling their souls with joy & consolation, yea, even to the purifying & the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God.
